Machinists Sign New Agreement with Pro Mac!
Duncan, BC – The times may be tough at Pro Mac Manufacturing but the bargaining committee of IAMAW Local Lodge 456 delivered a new collective agreement. “Given the uncertain state of the economy, our 38 members can be proud their solidarity led to a satisfactory contract,” said IAMAW District Lodge 250 Business Representative Alastair Haythornthwaite.
The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 3 per dent in the first year, 3 per cent in the second year and 2 per cent in the third year. Other agreement highlights include :
• A one per cent increase in Employer contributions to the retirement plan in the third year
• A new statutory holiday added in February
• Creation of a new joint management-worker training committee to oversee training and apprentices.
• Life Insurance increased to $70,000

Pro Mac Manufacturing is one of the largest fabrication and machine shops on Vancouver Island. Besides operating as a jobbing shop for pulp and saw mills on the island, it also makes a line of industrial vegetation clearing attachments. Pro Mac also specializes in supplying saw arbours, and saw guides to OEMS, and saw mill customers.
