Machinists Ink Five-Year Deal with Toronto Star

Toronto, On – The members of IAM Local Lodge 235 have ratified a new collective agreement with the Toronto Star.
The five-year agreement provides wage increases of 1 per cent in year one and two respectively, 1.5 per cent in years three and year four and 1.75 per cent in the fifth year. Other agreement highlights include :
• Employer pays $65.00 toward eye exams
• Shift differential increases from $1.35 to $1.60/hour
• Effective January 1, 2016 evening shift will receive a paid lunch
• Boot allowance increased from $245.00 to $275.00
• Contract language improvements
The 24 members are millwrights who maintain and repair the printing presses of the newspaper in Toronto’s north end.
