Local 608 Members Ratify New Collective Agreement with the Local District Government of Pinawa
Congratulations to the members of IAM Local 608 who work for the Local District Government of Pinawa, both inside and outside the municipality, on ratifying a new Collective Agreement!
The new agreement delivers strong wage gains and meaningful improvements to working conditions. Members will receive general wage increases of 5.5% in 2026, followed by 3.5% in both 2027 and 2028, representing nearly 13% in compounded wage growth over the term of the agreement, along with market adjustments.
Members also secured a significant increase in weekday standby/on-call pay, which will double from $15 to $30.
The agreement strengthens protections for bargaining unit work by requiring the employer to consult with the Union before contracting out work that falls within the bargaining unit. It also includes improved language for temporary employees, sick leave administration, bereavement leave, promotions and classifications.
Additional improvements provide greater consistency throughout the Collective Agreement and strengthen members’ rights and protections in the workplace.
