IAM X AIR CANADA UPDATES

On May 7, 2025, the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) issued its bottom-line decision permitting the fragmentation of the TMOS bargaining unit at Air Canada. In response, we filed an application for reconsideration on May 29, 2025.

Earlier today, May 6, 2026, the Board released its reconsideration decision. In a reversal, it acknowledged that the original panel made an error and overturned the previous ruling.

The Board reaffirmed its long-standing position that larger, broader-based bargaining units provide greater stability. As a result, AMFA’s application for certification has been dismissed.

This is a decisive outcome. It protects the integrity of our bargaining unit and reinforces the strength that comes from standing together.

We expect this decision to finally put this matter to rest and encourage all members to stand together in solidarity moving forward.

Our collective focus and energy must now be directed toward securing the industry-leading collective agreement at Air Canada that our members have earned and deserve.
