Richmond, BC – “The new owner of Pacific Industrial Scale, Avery Weightronix, wanted reduced overtime rates and the elimination of a floating holiday, and that was just for starters, “ explained IAM District Lodge 250 Business Representative Paul Pelletreau. “We made it very clear there would be no agreement with these or any other concessions.”
The result was a three-year agreement which provides wage increases of 2.25 per cent in the first and second years respectively and 2.5 per cent in the third year. Other agreement highlights include :
• Five cent an hour increase in pension plan contributions in each year
• Charge Hand rate increases from $ .35/hour to $1.75/hour
• Introduction of a nine-day fortnight provision into the agreement for the fabrication and welding areas – Monday to Thursday-9 hours, first Friday 8 hours and second Friday off
• Introduction of Banked Overtime language
• Introduction of Harassment Free Workplace language
