Building a Stronger Union, One Steward at a Time
IAM District 78 proudly hosted the IAM Local 1231 at Spectrum Healthcare Annual Stewards Symposium on July 3, 2026, bringing together dedicated stewards for a day of education, collaboration, and leadership development.
Facilitated by Business Representative Ben Osakue and Central Chair Susanna Duncan, the symposium featured sessions on steward responsibilities, the escalation process, workplace policies, harassment, health and safety, WSIB, workplace accommodations, and member education. District Organizer Rootisha Rampat also delivered an engaging presentation on organizing.
As the frontline representatives of the IAM Union, stewards play a critical role in protecting members’ rights and supporting respectful, safe workplaces. By investing in steward education, IAM District 78 continues to strengthen leadership, empower members, and build a stronger union.
